Irregular posts, if any at all...sometimes I knit, sometimes I don't. I am trying to learn how to spin, but I don't have much time.

I made it!

I managed to finish sock #2 just in time for the beginning of the closing ceremonies on NBC. I may be running on a slightly different schedule from everyone else. I also didn't realize that I could cast on at 2pm on opening day and I instead began during the opening ceremonies on NBC at around 8pm. So, I figure that makes it okay, right? Here is my DB proudly modeling his new socks.
I grabbed him as soon as he walked in the door from a 12hour shift and forced the freshly completed socks on his feet.

Since I spent the weekend crying intermittently while trying to complete these socks and study and run a home I am going to collapse in bed now that I have had my first shower in days.

Congratulations to everyone who participated! I can't wait for the next olympics and I will be training nearly every day until the next opening ceremonies.

Olympic Glory!

I watched last night as the US took the gold in the giant slalom! It was so exciting to watch those girls kick some serious ass in the bad weather. Man, if the weather around here were more like that I would have my olympic socks done by now. I managed to turn the heel and complete gusset decreases on my second sock. I know I haven't been posting here, and very little anywhere else.

Sock Montage:

sock the first

Sock the First in all its glory and bagginess and some holes that aren't supposed to be there.

sock 2 cuff

Sock the Second a few inches in.

Sock the Second coming round the turn and heading for the finish line.

More posting to follow for my dedicated listeners - eventually there will be listeners

I have recently acquired a yarn storage device! This lovely new cabinet needs a little bit more work, however I couldn't resist putting some yarn in it right away. I need to build better shelving within it at a later point.

My grandmother bought me a wool winder for xmas and I had to buy a swift to complete the set. I can't wait until I start doing a bit more spinning, as soon as I can figure out what is wrong with my wheel.

why can't I sleep

Last night i was up with the stomach bug that is going on around here. My sleep schedule is way off now. On a positive note i finished knitting the band on my very own OSW! Unfortunately, the band is inelastic and i am now unable to put the damn thing on. If anyone ever reads this, how do I fix this problem? I have managed to unravel the bound off edges on the short sleeves and have begun making them longer. I will post pics tomorrow after the DB and i go geocacheing.

Here we go!

I just emailed the Yarn Harlot with my submisson for the Knitters Olympics. I figure what better time to finally start a knitting blog. I haven't been knitting for very long and in this short period of time I have very little time to knit. I have managed to knit a few scarves a goofy baby hat and a felted purse or two (they came out terribly!). The main reason I have never started a knitting blog is due to the fact that I didn't have the means to post pictures and what is a blog without lots of yarn porn. Now that I have a digital camera I can post everything I knit.

As for the Olympics, I will be making a pair of HUGE socks for my DB. His big 'ol man feet are going to drive me crazy in 16 days. I am going for some simple starter stockinette socks in an ugly woolease color that he picked out. I'm thinking contrasting toes and heels. Socks kind of scare me. I am not afraid of knitting in the round, just of making something that is so form fitting and must be perfect.
